"On The Verge" Theater Festival On South Coast Pushes Discussion Of Major Social Issues

A theater festival underway on the South Coast is delving into some tough social issues, with the hoping of helping to both entertain and foster some serious community conversations.

The "On The Verge Festival" in Santa Barbara features six productions during its 11 day run, from August 3rd through 13th.

Directors, actors, and others from the Santa Barbara area have teamed up with people from Los Angeles, and around the country to stage the mix of shows at the Community Arts Workshop.

On the Verge is a repertory company based in Santa Barbara which produces works created by female and LGBTQ writers.

The goal of the three year old festival is to produce cutting edge theatrical pieces.

The topics touched range from issues like from civil rights to abortion.
