Authorities are investigating the death of a female Ventura County jail inmate.
Deputies at the Todd Road jail were serving breakfast at around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday when they noticed the 64 year old woman was unresponsive. Jail medical personnel, and paramedics responded immediate, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name hasn’t been released yet. An autopsy is pending.
Sheriff’s Office officials say the woman had been in custody since last Sunday on drug related charges. They say since being booked at the jail, deputies had checked on her hourly, including last night, and there were no signs of health issues.
