Plane crash between Ventura and Santa Paula kills two

Authorities haven’t released the names yet of two people killed when a light plane crashed on the South Coast.

It happened just after 3 yesterday afternoon, between Ventura and Santa Paula. The single engine experimental aircraft may have had engine problems before going down in an orchard near Aliso Canyon Road.

When Ventura County firefighters reached the scene, the plane was burning. The two people on board were pronounced dead at the scene. Federal investigators are now trying to determine what led to the crash.
