The sweltering heat continues for the South and Central Coast, and that could pose a challenge for firefighters battling the Sherpa Fire.
You can expect record-breaking temperatures.
"There is excessive heat warnings out," said National Weather Service Specialist Stuart Seto.
He said most of Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties will experience temperatures from the 90s to triple digits. The current weather conditions are causing an elevated wildfire concern, with red flag warnings in some areas.
“A lot of dry grass has already occurred basically from the five years we’ve had of drought. Along with that, these hot temperatures and winds and everything," Seto said. "So, if a fire gets started, it’s very dangerous. It spreads very rapidly.”
The good news is that the heat wave is coming to an end, as things begin to slightly cool down Tuesday.
