Thousands of people lined freeway overpasses to honor the firefighter who gave his life in the battle against the Thomas brush fire.
A motorcade from Ventura County to San Diego took Cal FIRE engineer Cory Iverson home for the final time.
Iverson died last week when he was overcome by the blaze during a flareup northwest of Fillmore.
As the motorcade left Ventura County yesterday morning, public safety workers and members of the public lined freeway overpasses along Highway 101 to salute Iverson. In Los Angeles, there were actually fire trucks and police cars parked on the freeway at spots to honor the 32 year firefighter.
Iverson leaves behind a two year old daughter, and he and his wife were expecting a second daughter.
