Thomas Fire In Ventura County Now Tops 10,000 Acres; Expected To Reach East Ventura

Map of Thomas fire zone as of 10:50 Monday night.

A raging brush fire in Ventura County has now burned 10,000 acres of land, and is still growing.

The Thomas Fire started off of Highway 150 between Santa Paula and Ojai Monday night, and has forced hundreds of evacuations.  The evacuations include homes on the north side of Santa Paula, and north of Foothill Road in Ventura.

Firefighters have zero containment at this point, with the wind grounding firefighting helicopters.

At an 11 p.m. news conference in Santa Paula, Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean urged residents to listen to evacuation orders, saying that it's simply too dangerous to wait.

There are widespread power outages reported in the region, with much of Western Ventura County reporting issues.

Here is the latest fire map as of 10:50 Monday night.
