The crack of a baseball bat will be heard from the semi-pro baseball team the Santa Barbara Foresters tonight, in a new location at Pershing Park on Castillo street.
The move is a major one for a team that formerly used the field at the University of California, Santa Barbara's field.
Pershing Park's field is right at the waterfront near Santa Barbara City College.
It's expected to be a big draw, with the mountain and harbor views.
Getting the OK on the move was complex, including needing to coordinate with the city parks department, other users of the field, and rehabilitating the field's base paths and warning tracks.
Years ago, a Dodger's farm team was located in a nearby area.
The Foresters have won several national championships at their level, and should be a home-run at their new location.
