Firefighters are having to deal with strong Santa Ana winds Sunday as they continue to battle the massive 83,000 acre Woolsey brush fire in Ventura, and Los Angeles Counties.

The focus of the firefight is in the Santa Monica Mountains, where the fire is moving through rugged terrain dotted by ranches and homes.  More than 170 structures have been confirmed destroyed, but officials concede they expect the number to rise.

The Santa Ana winds are in the forecast through Tuesday.

Crews are patrolling the Conejo Valley loooking for potential flareup from embers, but the main area of concern now is west of Highway 101.

Meanwhile, firefighters have made substantial progress in dealing with the 4500 acre Hill Fire in Ventura County.  It's now 70% contained, with evacuation orders for it lifted.
