Ride Operator At Mid-State Fair On Central Coast Issues Statement In Wake Of Deadly Ohio Accident

A deadly accident at the Ohio State Fair has focused new attention on carnival ride safety, including the California Mid-State Fair underway in Paso Robles.

The company which operates the midway at the fair in San Luis Obispo County has issued a statement about the safety of its rides.

Helm and Sons Amusements officials say they don’t have the same exact ride, the KMG Fireball, which broke in Ohio killing one man and injuring several other people. Helm has something similar called the Star Dancer.

After hearing about the accident, Helm and Sons say they had their technicians and safety team thoroughly inspect the Star Dancer, and found no issues with it.

They say the ride they have in Paso Robles has a different design, and has undergone its annual inspection by regulators and has been certified as safe.
