Plans For Two New South Coast Power Plants Up In Air; But Two Existing Facilities Now Set To Close

It’s a heated subject on the South Coast. Efforts to build two new power plants in the region have created a firestorm of controversy for years. Now, not only are both of the projects up in their air, there are also plans to shut down two existing power plants in the region.

KCLU's Lance Orozco has more on plans by NRG to shut down its facilities at Ormond Beach, in Oxnard, and its Ellwood Plant in Goleta.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
