A fundraising campaign to build a long sought new community park on the South Coast has received a financial boost from the state.
The California Department of Housing and Community Development awarded $230,000 to the City of Ventura’s Kellogg Park project.
The planned 2.5 acre park will provide playground areas, walking paths, open space and other facilities for Ventura’s Westside.
$2.2 million of the $4.3 million dollars needed for the project on Ventura Avenue at Kellogg Street has now been raised, with a community fundraising campaign underway. Plans call for the park’s construction to begin this fall, with completion around the end of 2017.
