Orchids, Orchid Fans From Around World Converge On Santa Barbara For International Orchid Show

Everywhere you look in a huge Santa Barbara building, there are orchids of all shapes, sizes, and colors. In fact, there are so many, even the organizers of the 72nd annual Santa Barbara International Orchid show don’t have an accurate count.

You don’t have to be an orchid fan to appreciate the beauty of these flowers, which come from around the Central and South Coasts, across the state, and from as countries as far away as Ecuador, Japan, and Germany.

There’s 22,000 square feet of orchid displays and a 13,000 square foot marketplace, where you can buy orchids if you’re inspired by the show at the Earl Warren Showgrounds.

Some of the displays are from professional growers, but most feature plants from hobbyists. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
