One Time Ventura County Man Dies While Fighting ISIS With Kurdish Forces In Syria

A one-time Ventura County man who was a volunteer with Kurdish forces fighting ISIS is Syria has died.

Officials with a group called the People’s Defense Units say Robert Grodt was killed in Raqqua, Syria, during an ambush.

The 28 year old man lived in Simi Valley before going to college in Northern California, where he became an activist involved in a number of social issues. In a YouTube video, he said he want to do something to help the Kurdish people.
