Even as search efforts continue for victims of Tuesday's flash flooding in Santa Barbara County, the number of people still being sought has been radically downsized.
Thursday night, officials said 43 people were missing. Friday morning, the number has been downscaled to five. They say the numbers will continue to change, noting that some people reported missing didn't know they were on the list, and were staying with family, friends, or in motels. Meanwhile, the number has been going up at times because people have realized they haven't heard from a relative, friend, or neighbor.
The around the clock search efforts have continued to grow, with more than 1200 people now involved.
