No Evacuations Ordered For Central, South Coasts For Monday/Tuesday Storm

Santa Barbara County public safety officials say no heavy rainfall is anticipated in burn areas from a storm which will move through the region Monday night into Tuesday, so they aren’t ordering evacuations.

The latest forecast models show the chance of heavy rain in brush fire burn zones on the Central and South Coasts from an approaching storm has dropped dramatically. The storm moving through the region is expected to drop about a quarter to a third of an inch of rain Monday night into Tuesday

National Weather Service meteorologists dropped the chance of locally heavy rain onshore from 20% to around 5%. They do point out the percentage is not zero, so the situation will have to be closely monitored.

Santa Barbara County issued a pre-evacuation advisory Sunday, saying that should conditions warrant evacuations would be ordered tonight for areas near brush fire burn zones. Even though no evacuations are being ordered, the pre-evacuation advisory will remain in effect because of another storm expected to arrive on Thursday.
