The latest information on efforts to repair utilities, and other infrastructure in areas of Southern Santa Barbara County hit by flooding January 9th is that it could be weeks before most services are restored.

It’s expected that power, and water will be restored to areas outside of the main flood, and debris flows by January 31st. Southern California Gas Company officials say because of the magnitude of the disaster, they can’t project when its service will resume, The sewer system appears to have come through the flooding largely intact, but teams are still clearing, and inspecting hundreds of manholes.

Santa Barbara County officials say about 20% of the county roads in the area that were impacted by mud and debris flows need additional work, but should be usable by the end of the month.
