More Evacuation Orders Lifted In Flood Zones From January 9th Disaster In Santa Barbara County

Crews continue the difficult task of searching for the remains of two still missing people from the January 9th floods in Santa Barbara County, while in other areas more evacuation orders were lifted Wednesday.

Even as crews work to repair damaged roads, and fix utilities in Southern Santa Barbara County, the search goes on for the two still missing storm victims. 21 people died in the flooding and debris flows.

Teams are using human remains search dogs to try to bring closure to the families of the missing.

At noon Wednesday, Caltrans reopened all of what had been still closed Highway 101 on and offramps in the Montecito area. 

However, sections of Highway 192 remain closed between Summerland and Santa Barbara.

Here are other changes in evacuation status as of noon on Wednesday:

The Voluntary Evacuation Warning was lifted for the following area of Montecito: 

  • South of U.S. 101
  • East of Channel Drive
  • North of the ocean
  • West of Olive Mill Road/Channel Drive

The Mandatory Evacuation Order will be lifted for the following area of Montecito:

  • South of U.S. 101
  • East of Via Del Mar (excluding Seaview Drive, which remains under an Mandatory Evacuation Order)/1307 Danielson Road/Intersection of Olive Mill Road and Virginia Road, to the east end of Fernald Point Lane
  • North of the ocean

And also lifted are evacuation orders for the following area:

  • North of U.S. 101
  • East of and including La Vuelta Road/1750 San Leandro Ln/Boeseke Parkway/Ennisbrook Drive/Meadowbrook Drive/Midwick Place/Valley Club Road
  • West of Ortega Ridge Road
  • South of E. Valley Road
