Launch Team Hopes Fourth Time Is A Charm To Send Rocket Into Space From Central Coast

SpaceX is hoping it will be able to launch a Falcon 9 Rocket with satelites onboard from Vandenberg Air Force Base Thursday. Three previous attempts were postponed.

Efforts to launch a rocket carrying some satellites from the Central Coast are now zero for three, but the launch team is hoping a fourth planned effort will be successful.

Wednesday morning’s effort was postponed due to strong upper level winds.

Two previous efforts by SpaceX to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base were delayed so engineers could do additional pre-launch tests.

Thursday’s launch window opens at 6:17 a.m. If it goes as planned, early risers should be able to see it if the skies are clear. The payload includes a Spanish radar imaging satellite, as well as some smaller satellites.
