A scenic South Coast bluff with an incredible panoramic view of the Santa Barbara Channel has been the proposed site of a luxury resort for decades.
But, some people dreamed of preserving the more than 20 acre site as open space. Now, thanks to two local conservation groups, the community has a chance to make that dream come true.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports that two conservation groups have reached a deal to buy the property for six million dollars. The total effort will cost $7.9 million dollars, including money for cleaning the land, building trails, and creating an endowment.
The Land Trust for Santa Barbara County, and the Citizens for the Carpinteria Bluffs says $5.5 million dollars has been pledged so far, and they need to raise an additional $2.5 million dollars in the next year.
