A highway which connects parts of Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties with Kern County is open again, after being closed for about six hours by a brush fire.
The fire was discovered at around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning near the intersection of Highway 166, and Highway 33 in Kern County.
The 1000 acre fire jumped Highway 166, forcing its closure, and backing up traffic for miles. The highway reopened at around 5 p.m. As of Tuesday evening, it was 55% contained. There's no word on the cause of the fire.
The Alamo Fire northeast of Santa Maria closed Highway 166 between Santa Maria and New Cuyama for more than a week, but that section of the highway is open, and was unaffected by the new blaze.
