What was once the longtime site of a church on the South Coast has been transformed into an affordable housing complex for seniors.
Community leaders will gather on Upper State Street in Santa Barbara Monday to celebrate the completion of Grace Lutheran Apartments.
With its congregation declining, members of Grace Lutheran Church donated the property to the City of Santa Barbara for badly needed affordable housing for seniors.
The complex on the 3800 block of State Street features 38 apartments, as well as a community room and other amenities for residents.
