Flooding Prompts Some South Coast Colleges To Delay Start Of New Semester

The flooding in Santa Barbara County has impacted the planned start of school for some South Coast colleges.

Both Westmont College, and Santa Barbara City College have changed their schedules.

Westmont College has pushed backed the start of its new semester from Tuesday to Wednesday.

The college is just outside of the evacuation zone. Westmont has made special arrangements to pick up students arriving by boat, train, or at Santa Barbara Airport, and even chartered busses to pick up students in Valencia, and bring them by bus via I-5.

Meanwhile, Santa Barbara City College has pushed back the start of its new spring semester from this week to next week. City College has served as an evacuation center during the flooding.
