Firefighters are hoping to get full containment Wednesday of a brush fire in Ventura County which has charred nearly 120 acres of land, and left a section of Highway 33 closed.

What’s being called the Vista Fire broke out at around 2:45 Tuesday afternoon in the hills northwest of Ventura, near Foster Park. No homes were threatened, but a camp with about 60 people in it was evacuated.

Highway 33 was closed between Ventura and Ojai Tuesday afternoon and evening, but reopened at around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

An army of about 200 firefighters stopped the growth of the blaze by sunset Tuesday night, with the fire 50% contained. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
