Financially Troubled Sporting Goods Chain Announces More Closures On Central, South Coasts

Sporting Goods Chain Closing Four Of Six Stores On Central, South Coasts

A financially troubled sporting goods retailer which filed for bankruptcy protection broadened the list of stores it plans to close on the Central and South Coasts from one to four.

Sports Authority is planning to close about 140 of the more than 450 stores it owns nationwide. Earlier this week, Camarillo was on a preliminary list of store closures.

Sports Authority stores in Thousand Oaks, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo were added to the list. So far, the remaining two stores in our region, in Goleta and Westlake Village, have not been targeted for shutdown.

Liquidation sales at the affected stores are expected to begin in the next few days.
