Rey Fire hits 46% containment

Efforts to contain Santa Barbara County's Rey wildfire got a big boost on Friday, going from 39% to 46%. The blaze in the Los Padres National Forest has charred more than 33,000 acres. The fire began August 18th, threatening some of the scattered homes and ranches in the Paradise Road area before pushing into wilderness areas. No structures have been reported damaged. Paradise Road, which was closed for nearly a week, reopened last night to residents. It remains closed to the general public. The goal is to have full containment of fire around the middle of this coming week.
