A Central Coast city is moving ahead with a major program to improve its most heavily used street.
Pismo Beach will reconstruct 18 blocks of Shell Beach Road. It’s in the city’s downtown area.
Plans call for adding a walking and bicycling path, upgrading water lines, and putting utilities underground in the scenic area.
There will also be new crosswalks, trees, and the addition of a parking lot for the popular visitor’s area. The city has been working on the concept for more than a decade.
Work on the nearly $13 million dollar streetscape project is expected to start in August.
