Work to replace a half century old fire station on the South Coast kicked off today.
A new 15,000 square foot Ventura County Fire Department facility is being built in Fillmore. The $8.3 million dollar building will be on a nearly three acre lot at the intersection of Highway 126, and C Street. It will house three trucks and have living quarters for nine firefighters.
It will replace a fire station on Old Telegraph Road in Fillmore built in 1952. The new station is expected to be ready for use in early 2018.
