Work Starting On Major Highway 101 Project On South Coast

Construction signs going up along section on Highway 101 in Carpinteria beginning Sunday, as part of four year bridge replacement project

You’re going to literally see the first signs of construction next week on a section of Highway 101 on the South Coast used by 100,000 people daily.

Crews will start putting up construction signs Sunday along Highway 101 in the Carpinteria area, as well as beginning to put up fencing in spots. The project to build new Linden Avenue and Casitas Pass overpasses is intended to improve vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle travel flow in the city. It’s also a key step in plans to ease traffic congestion by widening the 101 from two to three lanes in each direction from Carpinteria, to Montecito.

Starting in early October, there will be some overnight freeway lane closures in the area to restripe the freeway, and to place concrete safety barriers for shoulder work.
