Work officially gets underway Monday on a new 90 unit complex on the South Coast intended to help low income senior citizens.
The Gardens On Hope project in Santa Barbara is specifically designed to support frail seniors, and will have services like meal service and housekeeping.
Construction on the 17 million dollar project on the 200 block of South Hope Street is expected to take about 14 months.
It’s the latest effort by the Housing Authority of Santa Barbara to help seniors in need. An estimated one in 14 seniors in the city is currently living in poverty.
