Ventura County Woman Gets Four Year Prison Sentence For Embezzling From Library

A Ventura County woman who served as the financial officer for a local library has been sentenced to four years in state prison for embezzlement.

Ventura County prosecutors say Tammy Jean Ferguson of Thousand Oaks stole nearly a half million dollars from the Blanchard Community Library in Santa Paula during a seven year period. They say Ferguson used the library’s credit card for personal purposes, and used a library ATM to withdraw cash from a library account. Ferguson pled guilty to misappropriation of public funds, and of falsifying public accounts. The library has recovered more than $400,000 of the taxpayer dollars from insurance.

In addition to the four year prison sentence, the 55 year old woman has been ordered to pay more than $499,000 in restitution.
