Prosecutors say a Ventura County woman admitted filing dozens of false medical insurance claims to steal more than $100,000 from an insurance company.
Investigators say Anna Maria Ruiz of Ojai worked for a Ventura company which handles medical billing for doctors, so she knew how to work the billing system. They say Ruiz filed 30 fraudulent claims with an Ohio insurance company, receiving $127,000 for the false claims.
Prosecutors say the 36 year old woman pled guilty to 11 felony fraud counts. She’ll be sentenced next month.
