Ventura County Supervisor Proposes New Effort To Help Homeless

A Ventura County supervisor is proposing a new effort to develop some badly needed shelters in the region for the homeless.

County Supervisor Steve Bennett says while the county offered funding in the past for joint city-county homeless shelters, the effort didn’t have takers. Bennett believes the problem was a lack of clarity about the responsibilities of the partners.

The supervisor thinks developing more of a formal program will lead to county-city partnerships and the establishment of needed shelters.

County Supervisors are expected to look at the proposal when they meet Tuesday.
