Ventura County Man Sentenced To Jail For Massive Workers Compensation Fraud Case

The owner of a Ventura County cleaning business has been sentenced to a year in jail, and ordered to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution for insurance fraud.

Prosecutors say Victor Vega of Oxnard pled guilty to four felony counts of violating workers compensation insurance laws. They say that for more than five years, he underreported the number of workers he employed at his cleaning business, and also lowballed his actual payroll to his workers compensation insurance carriers.

The action cost four companies more than $450,000.

In addition to the jail sentence, he was put on probation for five years, and ordered to pay restitution.
