Ventura County Man Convicted In Sports Fraud Case Ordered To Pay Million Dollars In Restitution

A Ventura County man who operated a fraudulent sports products investment scheme has been sentenced to prison, but has also been ordered to pay more than a million dollars in restitution to 111 victims.

Ventura County prosecutors say Gilbert Ramon Infante pled guilty to 13 felony counts of securities fraud, and identity theft. They say the 56 year old Ventura man told his victims that he had contracts with some major pro sports teams, and promised them huge returns investments.

Investigators say Infante forged documents, and there were no actual agreements. He received an eight year prison sentence in addition to the order to pay more than a million dollars in restitution.
