Ventura County Jail Inmate Dies

An inmate at a South Coast jail who became ill has died.

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies say Jeffrey Kibler was being held at the county’s Pre-Trial Detention facility Monday morning when he said he was having a medical issue.

Jail medical staff who examined the Ventura man say his condition appeared to be worsening, so they called firefighters and paramedics. Kibler was taken to a hospital, where he died less than four hours later. An autopsy is pending.
