Ventura County To Implement Laura's Law, Providing New Help For Some With Serious Mental Illness

Ventura County is joining a dozen other counties around the state in adopting a state law intended to provide new help for some mentally ill people.

After close to two years of study and planning, the county is moving to implement what’s known as Laura’s Law, which allows the courts to order a seriously mentally ill person into outpatient treatment. It could provide critical support for families trying to cope with struggling loved ones.
