Two Separate Accidents Cause Major Issues On Central Coast Highways

Traffic accident closed section of Highway 101 on Central Coast for about three hours today

It was a rough day for thousands of travelers on the Central Coast, with two separate accident causing closures, and delays.

An accident involving a pickup truck, and trailer on the southbound 101 just outside of Buellton, near Santa Rosa Road, closed a section of the Highway for hours. No one was injured in the crash, which happened just before 10 a.m. The truck hit the railing of a bridge, and was suspended over the edge of the damaged railing. Traffic was rerouted from the 101 on Highway 154, through the Santa Ynez Valley. There were huge backups for part of the morning. The highway was reopened during the noon hour.

Meanwhile, a truck accident and fuel spill on Highway 1 at Highway 246 outside of Lompoc also disrupted traffic for much of the morning, but it’s also back to normal now.
