Two Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office Jail Employees Arrested

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's officials say two employees have been arrested after the duo had sexual relationships with some inmates.

The arrests are the result of a year and a half long investigation.  Salvador Vargas was a discharge planner at the county's main jail, and Gabriel Castro was a custody deputy at the jail.  Department officials say both men have been on paid administrative leave since September 2018.

Santa Barbara County prosecutors filed charges against the men this week, leading to their arrests.
