What was described as a domestic dispute brought the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department to a condominium in Carpinteria twice on Sunday.
The second time, an elderly person had reportedly been assaulted.
The suspect was in the garage and refused to come out.
Deputies eventually got in, but they suffered minor injuries while executing the arrest.
The suspect was also wound after a sheriff's canine assisted with the arrest.
Charges are expected to include battery, elder abuse, false imprisonment and battery on a peace officer.
