Two Brush Fires Burning Out Of Control In Ventura County; Highway 101 Closed

Strong wind is blowing two brush fires out of control in Ventura County, and one of them has closed a section of Highway 101.

An 10,000 acre plus brush fire known as the Hill Fire is burning out of control on the Conejo Grade, north of Newbury Park. Evacuations have been ordered for the Camarillo Springs area, and Highway 101 is closed near Pleasant Valley Road. Cal State Channel Islands has also been closed.

Ventura County Fire officials say there are 20 to 25 an hour winds. Meanwhile, a 750 acre plus fire called the Woolsey Fire is burning near the site of the old Santa Susana Field Lab, outside of Simi Valley. There are Red Flag warnings in effect for parts of Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
