Thomas Fire Flareup Causes Concern In Fillmore

Firefights battle flareup of Thomas Fire outside of Fillmore

A flareup of the massive Thomas brush fire in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties Thursday outside of Fillmore left some Santa Clara River Valley residents worried.

The flareup was on a hillside about three miles northwest of Fillmore,  It sent a huge plume of smoke into the sky.  There were windy conditions, but the wind blew the fire back on itself, and away from the City of Fillmore.  The fire is on a mountainside overlooking an agricultural area.

Firefighters had more than a half dozen helicopters battling the fire.
