Thomas Fire Creates Drinking Water Safety Concerns In Some Ventura County Communities

The Thomas Fire has had many impacts you might expect, like evacuations and issues related to air quality. But, one unexpected problem is over water quality.

State and local health and water quality officials say people living in all of the coastal areas from Ventura to the Santa Barbara County line need to boil, or otherwise purify their drinking water. Officials say contamination problems with the region’s water supply mean that if you drink the unpurified water, you could suffer stomach or intestinal illness.

They say you should also take steps to purify water used for cooking.
