South Coast University Annouces Plans To Move Its Northern California Seminary

Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary will move from its existing campus to an office complex in downtown Berkeley. PLTS is operated by California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks

A South Coast university has announced plans to move its Northern California seminary into the heart of Berkeley.

Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary will move from the hills above the city into a 12,000 square foot space across from Berkeley City Hall. Officials with California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, which is the Seminary’s parent, say the new location allows students to better interact with the public. It’s also closer to student housing.

The existing six acre hilltop site will be sold. University officials say the six decade old campus needs millions of dollars and repairs, and is also much larger than needed for the seminary’s 48 students.
