South Coast Residents Moved Into Temporary Homes After Fire

Residents in four condos on the South Coast are in temporary homes after a weekend fire.

An early morning fire Saturday in Santa Barbara destroyed one condo and damaged three others with the smoke and heat.

The fire was on El Vedado Street near Alamar. State police officers say flames were coming out of the bottom floor unit when fire crews arrived.

Several fire units were called in to control the fire as an evacuation took place.

It's unclear how many residents were assisted with housing by the American Red Cross.

Investigators say the cause of the fire is believed to be linked to smoking. No one was hurt.
