A South Coast museum has received $1.8 million dollars in new contributions towards its $50 million dollar renovation project.

The Santa Barbara Museum of Art is in the middle of a project to do seismic retrofitting, as well as renovating and expanding its State Street complex. The project includes the addition of two new galleries.

The new contributions include a million dollars from the estate of Diane Cunningham, $500,000 from an anonymous donor, and $300,000 from the Ahmanson Foundation.

Museum officials say they now have $37 million dollars in commitments for the $50 million dollar campaign.
