After a big search to find a new chancellor, a South Coast community college district found one right in its backyard.
Ventura College President Greg Gillespie is going to be the new chancellor of the Ventura County Community College District. The district had been negotiating with another finalist, but after it couldn’t reach a deal, trustees unanimously voted for Gillespie to head the three campus, 30,000 plus student district.
Gillespie has been a college administrator for more than two decades, and has been at Ventura College since 2013. He’ll take over for Dr. Bernard Luskin, who has been interim chancellor for nearly two years. He’ll move into his new post July 1st.
