Some South Coast Beaches Remain Closed Due To Bacteria In Wake Of January 9th Flooding

Even though it’s been more than two weeks since Southern Santa Barbara County was hit by deadly flooding, the ocean off some of the county’s beaches still has some unsafe bacterial levels.

Eight South Coast beach remain closed to swimming, surfing, and other activities.

They include Carpinteria Beach, Summerland Beach, Leadbetter Beach, Hope Ranch Beach, Goleta Beach, Hammond Beach, El Capitan State Beach, and Hope Ranch Beach. But, some other popular local beaches are now open.

That list includes East Beach, Butterfly Beach, Gaviota State Beach, Refugio State Beach, and Sands Beach at Coal Oil Point.
