Social Media Postings, Graffiti Create Concerns At Some Central, South Coast Schools

The deadly attack at a high school which left 17 dead at a Florida high school has prompted a wave of security concerns at schools around the country, including some on the Central and South Coasts.

Some graffiti in a bathroom prompted concern among some Westlake High School parents, but authorities determined it wasn’t a credible threat.  Many students weren't at school anyway because of safety concerns.

And, an old social media posting led to some concern among people at Lompoc’s Cabrillo High School, and that was also determined not to be a threat. Authorities say there are plans to have an increased law enforcement presence at both campuses Friday to reassure parents, students, and staff members.
