So Far, So Good With Storm Passing Through Central And South Coasts

Light showers in Montecito at around 5:45 a.m. Friday

The storm moving through the Central and South Coasts hasn’t caused any major problems, but we’re not done yet.

National Weather Service meteorologists say we’re still on track to get two to three inches of rain in our mountains. Rainfall on the coast could turn out to be a little less than expected, in the half inch to inch range.

The storm system has moved through the region slower than expected.

We could see potentially heavy spurts of rainfall through mid-morning, then showers as we move through the day.

Highway 101 is open in Santa Barbara County. The CHP didn’t have to close it overnight.

Tens of thousands of people remain out of their homes this morning, with mandatory evacuations in effect for the Thomas, Whittier, and Sherpa fire burn areas in Santa Barbara County.

In Ventura County, there are voluntary evacuation orders in effect for some Thomas Fire burn areas, including Matilija Canyon and Nye Road in the Casitas Springs area.
