Search Continues For Elderly South Coast Woman Who Disappeared Sunday

Search still underway for Judy Wurtz, a 76 year old woman who disappeared from Somis Sunday

Concern continues to grow after an air and ground search has failed to find any sign of an elderly South Coast woman with dementia who disappeared over the weekend.

Judy Wurtz was last seen at the family’s home on Faircrest Lane in Somis around 1:30 Sunday afternoon. Ventura County Sheriff’s office officials say the 76 year old woman is an avid hiker, and aside from her memory issues, is in good health.

Sergeant Denise Sliva, with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, says they’ve used helicopters, K-9’s, search and rescue teams, mounted units, and even a drone in their efforts to find the woman.

Searchers have even checked the possibility Wurtz may have gotten a ride back to her old home in Pasadena, but don’t think that occurred. Wurtz stands about 5’8” tall, weighs about 150 pounds, and was last seen wearing a denim shirt, and jeans.
